WHAT IS ASBESTOS AIR MONITORING?
Air monitoring is used to detect the level of asbestos fibres within the air and must only be carried out by a specially qualified asbestos analyst.
The various types of air tests we provide include:
Reassurance Testing | To test that residual fibre concentrations are below the clearance indicator or to determine if airborne fibres are present in any given location. |
Leak Testing | Undertaken during work with or removal of asbestos to ensure that safety measures are effective. |
Background Testing | To determine background levels of fibres in the air prior to work with asbestos starting. |
Personal Testing | A test undertaken on an individual during works with a number of applications including ensure protective equipment is fit for purpose, for medical surveillance, for risk assessments and to ensure control measures are adequate. |
Near Source | Monitoring to assess the release and spread of asbestos fibre concentrations near sources. |
Far Source | Monitoring conducted around the perimeter of the site where there may be other workers, public access or residential and commercial buildings. |
Clearance Testing | Undertaken following work with or removal of asbestos, normally as part of a 4-stage clearance. |
WHAT IS A 4 STAGE CLEARANCE?
When asbestos is removed, the area must be independently assessed to ensure it is safe for re-occupation. The Testing Lab PLC provide that independent assessment.
Our staff work in partnership with you and the organisation undertaking the physical work to ensure you are provided with a safe area and that all the documentation is for you to update your asbestos management plan.
The clearance process involves the following stages:
Stage 1 | A visual inspection of the area surrounding the works including a review of the setup of the job and all documentation. |
Stage 2 | A thorough visual inspection of the area where asbestos was worked on and/or removed. |
Stage 3 | A clearance air test within the works area. |
Stage 4 | A thorough inspection of the area following the removal of enclosures and equipment. |
Only after the satisfactory passing of all 4 states will our staff issue a Certificate of Reoccupation. Our certificates are issued on the day in hard copy and electronically to allow the swift reoccupation of the area.
