Refresher Surveying & Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings
Course Information
Objective:
To provide the candidate the knowledge and practical skills in surveying buildings for asbestos, the assessment of asbestos-containing materials, and to provide general guidance on management procedures necessary to minimise exposure to any identified asbestos within a client’s property.

- Asbestos in buildings
- Risk assessments and management of asbestos
- Bulk sampling and personal decontamination
- Practical work

- Asbestos surveyors, or managers of surveyors and surveying teams
- Asbestos re-inspectors, or anyone that undertakes asbestos re-inspections
- Those who require a detailed understanding of asbestos surveying principles (e.g. asbestos report writers, architects, building surveyors etc.)
Duration and Course Locations:
The BOHS RP402 is held in the following locations:
- Doncaster
- Manchester
- Birmingham
- Newcastle
- Bristol
- London
- Wales
Each course consists of:
- 3 days classroom training (twelve hours of teaching and learning time)
- 4 hours of independent study (in your own time)
Assessment
To undertake this course the candidate must have a minimum of 6 months asbestos surveying site experience and have a strong understanding of the HSG264 – Asbestos: The Survey Guide. To gain the qualification the candidate must pass all 3 parts of the assessment within a 12-month period:
- Formative practical assessment
- Written Theory examination
- Written Practical examination
